Well, we're on to the last quarter of the year. Things are moving apace, and I must admit that I have been very slack with updating, despite having a few things worth posting about. Don't ask me all what I was going to post, I don't remember most of it.

Saturday, however, we did go to the Elf Fantasy Fair, which was enjoyable until the end, when we got a no-show fire ring and an incredibly late final horse show and it was not that awesome for the lateness. (Which reminds me I still need to complain to them about that.) I have some video, and Mark has some pictures. Before I post the video anywhere, though, it needs some editing. I don't know what Mark will be doing with the photos.

Next up on the events list for the two of us is Keltfest, 15th of May. Between now and then, I have a few things, like the rehearsal weekend for Medusa. Hopefully I'll also catch a few films, of course I want to see Iron Man 2. Otherwise I hope to also catch Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and, of course, A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Had a small scare from the Immigration department here, due to a miscommunication between them and the people in Gouda. They claimed not to have gotten some paperwork, but Gouda fixed it. So that probably took a good ten years off my life, but now it is over.

Oh! Other big news! I have a new phone! I have yet to name it, but it is the HTC Hero. Any tips for what to name it? Should I continue with the theme we've got going of greek names. We've got Metis and Mnemosyne. Or should I go with another geeky name?

Huh, gosh, I have no idea what else I was going to say. I should really update this more often, it makes it easier when I update when I think about what I want to write, instead of weeks later.

It's Tuesday..

So, again, it's been awhile. We're still waiting on internet connection stuff in Gouda, but at least now we have heat!

Last Tuesday the heating broke. It also, of course, happened during a cold break here, so it was really quite chilly in Gouda. Luckily, yesterday evening, Mark managed to fix the heating. I'm not entirely sure what he did (neither is he, honestly) but it's working so that we can have heat while we wait for the cv ketel to be replaced. (The one in this house is about 15 years old, thus at the end of it's life.)

This week, on Thursday, I have two finals and then I'm free to.. fix more stuff in the house, I'm sure. Tomorrow Mark is working from home, and I'm going to be studying. I left some groceries to be done tomorrow, so I can take a break and walk down to the supermarket sometime during the day. Breaks are a good idea before my brain melts out of my ears. Saturday I go to Amersfoort to see a show with W, which should be loads of fun. It'll be nice to hang out with a friend again.

I have to admit, a good portion of last weekend was spent at Enschede. Friday night into Saturday and then Sunday evening into Monday. Coldness and my not feeling so great meant I preferred staying in Enschede, where all the comforts are (except for food and the like...).

So, yes, continued lack of internet, which means I don't get to check e-mail much, and I'm afraid I'm also not on messengers. I am, however, pretty much always available by cell and I welcome calls from friends. (Hey, [livejournal.com profile] ankie, how have things been? Thanks for the offer about the shows but I can get them pretty quickly when I'm in Enschede thanks to Mark still having a connection through Universiteit Twente.)

I have an idea of what my classes are for the next quarter, as well as my schedule (though this isn't entirely certain, as I haven't seen the final schedule yet).
Schedule here )

Pretty big mix of times, though Tuesdays seem to be remaining the same. Ugh to the 9am class though! At least I'll be in Gouda, which means I'll be able to leave around 8 something to get there in time, instead of leaving at 6 something. And I'm not really so thrilled with the late class, but once again, I will probably be home before or by 18:00, instead of between 19:00 and 20:00.

Anyway, I'll write another entry sometime this week, I'm sure. Again, I'll probably only be uploading this in the weekend, but it gives an idea of what's going on through the week.

book: "The Black Jewels Trilogy" by Anne Bishop

So, unfortunately, Mark is still somewhat sick. I'm feeling a little tired today, and crampy, but otherwise I don't feel too bad. Which is good. I don't wish to get sick, honestly. I did make it out to the grocery store yesterday to pick up some food (fruit, salad, green beans, stuff for dinners, was well as drinks), so it's unlikely that we'll starve to death.

Mark and I have made reservations for the 0:01 showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Yes, I am that big of a geek. Luckily, so is Mark. [livejournal.com profile] ankie, [livejournal.com profile] coronanl are you guys going to see it?

Urm, right, so I'm bored. I'm opening up the floor to any and all questions from the public. Whatever you want to ask, just do it!

Things I've done this weekend. (urm, and then some)

Thursday: Who's Who in the Bible for me. Mark received his new (temporary rental) car! It is silverish. It feels weird.. but it has so many buttons!

Friday: Some studying, some GuildWars.. a little bit of everything while Mark had his first introductory day in Rotterdam.

Saturday: 'Robe day'.. technically only Mark was in his robe. We were too lazy to even go and get groceries. Luckily, we knew Pa would feed us on Sunday and I could get groceries Monday (today). I played more GuildWars, watched some tv, read some more in Harry Potter en de Vuurbeker

Sunday: Off to Pa's! Mark helped his father shift things around his house and garden, and they played with sand and tiles. I played on the piano. Yes. For pretty much the entire day. Man, I miss playing the piano. I played since we got there (around noon, I think) until just about 21:00, except for short breaks to have a drink, and also for lunch and for dinner. I played a lot of piano.

...I want to play more! ;_; I really miss having a piano at hand. Mum also came over, which is always nice.

Monday: No GuildWars yet, but I'm considering it. Did groceries. Watched a movie. Studied. Played with the rats. Put the trash out, took the trashbin back in after trash was collected.

Still missing Mark. :( Another introduction day, so no chance of catching him on gmail, like I used to do when he worked in Almelo. He probably won't be home until really late again tonight. (late = dinner will probably be around 20:30/21:00). Friday and today required him getting up at least by 5:00 (yes, in the morning). It's kind of hard for me to sleep after that, so I've been getting up with him. It means lots of long hours of missing him.

I have to admit, I've updated my dutch journal a little bit more than this one. So, here's to give you English only people a chance to hear what's going on in my life.

Monday I went and visited Lush (this is the UK website) in Amsterdam. I felt really great, popping over from Utrecht to Amsterdam all on my own. Anyway, the Lush girls were incredibly friendly (I met a fellow UU student there, not history though). I ended up buying Rock Star soap and Trichomania shampoo, even though I hadn't really been planning on buying anything. I have just today used the Rock Star (it's bright pink and it smells like candy). I am quite satisfied. I smell delicious and the soap cleaned me very nicely.

Wednesday we went to the 19:00 showing of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. I post no spoilery things, but I have to say that it was fantastic. We ate a lot of popcorn, drank soda and then didn't eat any dinner. Ah, the joys of living on your own. Popcorn and m&ms for dinner!

Otherwise, on Friday, I went to Gouda to visit a bunch of houses. Well, technically only four, but it felt like a bunch more. Some of it was that I had an hour between each house, while each visit only took about 15 minutes, and it took tops 5 minutes to walk to the next house. I had plenty of time to get a feel for the neighborhood. Friendly enough neighborhood, I have to say. The first house I saw was small and would have required a lot of work. The person who lived there (apparently a teacher) hadn't bothered to do really anything to the place when he bought it. The bathroom was pretty much a closet. It had only a shower in it, and barely enough room for that. Tiny.
The second house had more space, still needed some updating but not nearly as much as the first house. It's still on the list, just in case my favorite house falls through.
The third house was fantastic. High ceilings, plenty of space, modern kitchen. A bit pricier than the other two, but so pretty. I definitely hope we get this one. It has plenty of space to have people stay over (so, yes, people from the US, you could stay in our house for cheaper than staying...anywhere else!) Hell, I'll link you to the pictures.. (Unfortunately, not many online. Maybe that's why it's still for sale?)
The fourth house? It tried to kill me! Nah, I went to check out the attic and the ladder fell out from under me. I ended up hanging from the opening to the attic for a few minutes while the real estate agent tried to get the ladder back together. I ended up leaning on it a little and then just hopping down, but damn, I'm still paying for that today. I really hurt my right elbow (both elbows really, but the right one in particular) and have a nice long bruise up my left thigh. He was all "I hope this doesn't make you reconsider this house!" and I said "of course not!" While, mentally, I was like 'the house just friggin' tried to kill me!' Nah, really, I just liked the third house more.

For now, I'm just enjoying a longer weekend. Mark only has work two more days at his old job left. Thursday he took off so that he can receive the rental car from his company, and Friday starts some introductory training. We should be calling real estate agents to get a second look at the house on Tuesday. Hopefully, it will all turn out.

Still waiting on the new cd from [livejournal.com profile] cadhla. I haven't gotten any confirmation of it being sent off yet, so, I just hope that that is what's going on. I really am looking forward to it, as her previous cd has conquered my 25 most played list and lives on my mp3 player. (Yes, I mean her entire cd has conquered my 25 most played list. Every single track.) I clearly need my fix. I had a dream the other night that I went to a local filking event and [livejournal.com profile] cadhla was there. It's kind of.. weird, to dream about people on my friends' list.

Hopefully, that will come soon enough (before my address changes, preferably!) and I can enjoy some new, fantastic music.

It's been warm lately, reaching about 30-32 degrees C (90 degrees F) these last few days. Luckily yesterday was nice and breezy, and today is a bit cooler. Friday was hot, though, ugh.

Anyways, for those I haven't told already, I'm not starting my classes until September. Stupid municipality.. But it's okay, I guess. :/ I've been cooking more once again, though what I really want is to do some baking but we need baking sheets for the microwave/oven.

Uhm, beyond that.. urgh, what have I been up to? Well, some art, but you can check my art journal for that (though I missed yesterday, whoops!). Watching movies, some tv, hanging around, doodling in my sketchbook, playing with rats. Yeah, that's about it.

My life is full of thrills, isn't it? ;)

So, I really have a boring life currently.

No.. really!

I mean, I'm enjoying it, and Mark seems to be enjoying it, but for writing. Well.. it's crap. It's mostly waiting still, for May.. for May 23rd. For classes.

But, Sunday night, Mark ([livejournal.com profile] beowulff) and I went to see Hair. It was fantastic. I loved it so utterly. It was such a fun musical, the actors were definitely having fun, and it was cool with two Dutch actors filling in for Sheila and Claude.
There was nudity (some weird thing at the end of act one, and a topless girl at the beginning of act two) but nothing to get in a fuss about. Lots of groping, kissing, male/male or male/female humping (through clothing.. :P) Fun songs, a great medley at the end that a good portion of the audience (including myself) belted along with the actors. I have serious musical girl crush on that musical. Mark was a sweetie and bought me a program for it.
I squee more.. SO MUCH FUN! You all must see this. :D

The only weird thing was this lady at the end. So, the band is playing, house lights are up.. time to go. A lady who sat behind me taps me on my shoulder.

Lady: [stuff in dutch]
Me: ..What? [mostly deaf in one ear from the speakers and loudness]
Lady: [repeating dutch]
Me: ..What? Engels! [very much not hearing stuff and confused by sudden dutchness after much english]
Lady: I did not like you [motions to Mark, who was turning away, and myself] ..somethingsomethingsomething [I can't clearly remember this, but something like touching each other through the show.. she did some motions to indicate this]
Me: [blinks, very confused..] sorry? [walks away, confused, and explaining to Mark..]

But, I mean. So, Mark and I are cuddly.. it's just the way we are! We don't try to shove it in people's faces, we don't shove our tongues down each other's throats in front of people, but we hug, we'll hold hands, we'll give light kiss on occasion. I had wrapped an arm around him on occasion during the show when he leaned forward. But, I mean, seriously nothing very intrusive..

And after a show filled with sex jokes, groping, humping, stroking and various songs*.. this lady complains about us being..well, a couple?! Mark complained on the way back (but only for a little, and lightly) that he wished he had spoken to her.

Afterwards, we went home, and crashed into bed (it was only Midnight.. and wow, tired). Then slept until about 1pm the next afternoon. And, uhm, return to the waiting. With a side dish of waiting.. *sigh*

*5th song in to Hair is titled Sodomy along with the Black Boys/White Boys songs later on.. hardly doubt anyone could complain about a little cuddling on our night...

So, not too much has been happening lately. Sleeping, reading (a lot). I got interviewed (that's not really what it was, but close enough word..) about my dutch classes. Hopefully I'll be able to start sometime this month, otherwise... four month wait. Blah.

Other than that.. well, Mark is going to help me get a resume together and I'm going to try to get a part-time job. Hopefully I'll be able to get one (there is currently a company in the area specifically requesting native English speakers).

Today we slept in late (we keep doing that >.<) and Mark worked from home. Played with the rats a good portion of the day (off and on) surfed the 'net. Pretty boring, huh?

We took pictures of the rats being cute, so, when I can get Mark to get them onto the computer, off the camera (when he can finally switch back over to Windows) I'll put them up and give y'all the link. :)

So, today, Mark [livejournal.com profile] beowulff and I got up ultra early (for us at least, 8 am.. sucky.. and then we didn't really get out of bed until 8:30, still sucky though). We had cereal for breakfast (thank goodness we went shopping yesterday, because we had no milk previously) and shared my laptop. Mark was very eager to get the parts to fix his computer today, but first we had to run out to the tax office in Almelo to get my tax number.

The drive out was pleasant enough, we managed to find parking at the train station, and then find the tax building, which was right near the station. All good so far, right? Yeah. Well, I should have known that Mark and I can never do things without something getting complicated. So, Mark talks to the ladies at the counter, we get a stub with our number on it and head over. Our number is already up on the screen and it says to go to desk #8. We look, at there is an older couple at desk #8. So.. we wait.
I should have heard it. I should have heard Fate laughing maliciously. Especially when we were aware that we could only park for an hour in the train parking lot.
Really, my life needs a soundtrack so I can be aware of the bad things about to come. A good *DunDunDun* would have told me. Or maybe the theme from Jaws, you know? Just a fair warning.. that's all I ask..

So, the older couple was still there, and it was getting towards 10:30 (we arrived at around 10 am). Mark and I glanced at each other, Mark paced, peered at the desk and the couple there. He paced back, sat down.. got up, paced more. It was nearly dizzying. Finally, after the older couple (waiting for the person to return from whatever he was doing) chatted with him some, he headed back over to the front desk.

Yes, apparently there was a problem with the machine, they would call someone to come help us. waitwaitwait Finally, another man showed up! Mark was almost jittery, he really didn't want to get a ticket. I filled in a form, man vanishes for a bit with my passport and residence permit while I fill in the form. He came back to tell us to go ahead and sit down, it shouldn't be too long now. Mark, of course, told the man that our parking would be expiring in about 5 minutes. Man nodded, assures Mark that it will be finished in time.
5 minutes passed, I let Mark head back to the car to move it. Man then called me up, handed me my passport, residence permit and a dark envelope and wished me a good day.
I headed back over the icy bits of roadway and sidewalk, back to the car that Mark had, apparently, just started up.

Nothing really horrible, I admit.. but the best curses are those that just make everything that little bit not good. >.< (Well, not everything not good but at the very least more difficult than necessary.)

So, we rushed a bit back home (Mark very much wanted to beat the mailman so he could get his computer parts. I did mention that Mark's computer decided to break.. both of them.. I was briefly concerned about the curse touching my laptop...). We made it with plenty of time. Yay!

Take that Fate! BWAHAHAHA, BEHOLD MY POWER!...
Yo, Fate.. you're pwned :P
... [enter jaws theme] ;)

Anyway, Mark has finally gotten his computer working once again, installed the bluetooth adapter and has been having fun uploading various things to his new Nokia cellphone. Like the theme to Happy Tree Friends.

Update time!

Another purge of my head into my livejournal. It's time to empty it of what things I remember since my last post.

Though, what is sad is that I can't remember exactly when my last post was and what it was about. Ah, well, I'll just wing it! yay!

Sunday Mark and I went out to Dawn of the Dead (wait..I mentioned that before..)
shit.. where's the fastforward button again...

Okay, Tuesday, Mark went in for an evaluation meeting, while I moped around waited in the apartment, unable to nap. So, finally in bored frustration out of the kindness of my heart, I threw things into the closet cleaned the bedroom. Wednesday we declared a lazy day, and made sweet sweet loving watched movies.

Today, we went out and Mark bought me a bicycle.* I also bought myself a dummy (or is it dunny? I can't tell...) for the meeting on Saturday. Our trip to Paris was booked on Wednesday, also, and we received confirmation today.

Urm, yes.. lots of interesting things did happen. Honest! Witty things were said, fun was had, laughter spewed forth from our mouths often, but my brain is as usual has oddly gone blank of them all.

Maybe I actual will start taking written note of those amusing things so I have something of interest to say eventually.

*cue Queen singing 'Bicycle' in my head. Yeah, I want to ride your bicycle! oooobaby
