It's, erm, been awhile since I've written here. I'm afraid that life has just been really busy, and the few times I had the time to write here, I preferred to play on my brand new PS2 (we bought it last weekend, along with Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts) or sleep. So, let's update this thing.

Classes:
On October 4th I had a mid-term for Introduction Celtic and on the 9th of October I had a mid-term for my Old Irish 1 course. In a change from my first tests last year I've passed both. In fact, I got an 8,3 on my Intro mid-term. I got a 6 on my mid-term for Old Irish, but I was just thrilled to pass. Otherwise, classes have kept me quite busy. Old Irish continues to prove itself as a really insane language that defies logic. No, seriously..

Old Irish Mid-term: Just the translation sections. )

In any case, I hope to spend some time translating the poetry in my Old Irish Primer and posting it in [livejournal.com profile] taalmisbruiker. I think that would be kind of neat, and would help with my vocabulary. I figure it won't be as interesting to people with no interest in language, thus the separate blog.

Social Stuff:
Haven't done a ton of social stuff, though I had a drink with the Celts last night in the Mick. Though way back on the 29th, Mark and I went to a company dinner that was themed after the American Roaring Twenties. It was fun and I got a red boa from it, as well as delicious food. Yum. However, not much of the music was actually based from the Roaring Twenties, which saddened me, and had Mark listening to me light heartedly complain about it as well as sing (just for us) some of my own music. Though, I think most of what I sang actually came from the 30s. Otherwise, I have stuff for Asterix next week (though I might not make it to the film night, because of redecorating of course) and I have a van Hamel lecture, which should be pretty cool.

Mark and I have seen Stardust, and I enjoyed it greatly. No, I haven't read the book, though I have started reading it multiple times (in both English and Dutch) in bookstores.

House:
We get the keys on Monday! We'll be 'camping' as such in the house while we fix up the main room downstairs and our bedroom. We've had some moving people come in to get some options on what it will cost to have them haul everything from Enschede to Gouda. We've got a new (temp but big) cage for the rats, so that they can enjoy the new house in Gouda as well, since we can't leave our sweet fat lumps behind. So Monday, our car already filled with stuff, we will hie ourselves off to Gouda and to the notary's office to sign things and come into official possession of our house.
I'm wondering, though, if we should name the house. Thoughts on that?

Things that I'm wanting to do: translating Old Irish poetry and writing up that review of Stars Fall Home from [livejournal.com profile] cadhla.

I will post in a separate, friends-locked entry our new address as of next week.

Also, gifts wise. I have received my birthday gift from my sister and brother-in-law. Fabulous shirts from BPAL and all of the Dark Tower comics. *love* I've enjoyed it greatly!
Ali, I know you read this. I forgot to mention that we have bought D a present and I will try to pin Mark down so that we can order your gift for you and then have that sent off. I still have to get stuff together for Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. Just wanted you to know that some progress had been made towards the gifting thing.

That's kind of it for the moment. I'm sure there is stuff I'm forgetting, but the comment function still works, so if people have questions....
