I live. Sorry for the quiet, things have been pretty busy lately. What with [livejournal.com profile] thearcher777 visiting (which required cleaning, but it was totally worth it) and then Mother's Day and school. School sucks up a lot of time, I have to tell you that much.

Anyway, I'm going to try and get something up more substantial than this. Sometime.. soon...

We're finally going to see Snakes on a Plane! About damn time, I say! We didn't see it when it first came into theatres here (last Thursday) because we're a sorry pair of people.

Train rides still wiping me out, but luckily I didn't get rained on today, just missing the heavy rainfall. Which is a good thing, as I had only a t-shirt on, no jacket, and it sucks to bike through the rain in just a t-shirt. Especially when the wind is blowing so hard.

Must. Stop. Sneezing... argh.

Nearly done with the entirety of the Chronicles of Narnia. I'm on The Last Battle now. Still having problems with mp3 player. Stupid thing gives out at the slightest change of position, which means that, when I bike, I get sound in one ear when my left leg is on the down stroke (extended) and no music when it comes up. Really annoying.

Anyway, must be getting the shoes on!

I am not a morning person. I'm reminded of this every time I have to get up at 7am or something. Luckily, Mark is understanding, and lets me sleep in on my later days. Such a good guy to let me do that.

Our ritual seems to be.. 7 am, alarm radio goes off. I don't even notice, because I sleep through a whole lot. Mark sort of wakes up, and we cuddle for at least another half an hour, when the beeping alarm on our alarm clock goes off. I'm more awake from that one, because I hate it with a seething passion. It's a good thing the alarm is on Mark's side of the bed, because I would throw the thing out the window some day. At about 7:30, 7:45 am Mark manages to get out of bed (he's not a morning person either, really). He gives me a kiss and then I conk right back out until he leaves for work. I don't know what he does, but he's probably getting breakfast, checking e-mail and the stuff. Saying hello to the rats.
At any rate, around 8:10am or so he comes in and we say good bye. Depending on the day, I may or may not contemplate changing the alarm so I can sleep another few hours. Usually, I get up around this time and steal Mark's robe, because it's very comfy and smells of him. Then I zombie around. I turn on the computer, say hello to the rats, think longingly about the bed and wonder how viable it is to call in sick to class (which I then dismiss, because if I'm not ill, I can handle class). Soon now, I may actually consider what a good idea food is. But not yet, because I'm still partially asleep.

Admittedly, this all goes out the window on days when I have class at 8:45am. Then I get up with Mark and zombie around, looking for brains, because.. ugh. I still manage, somehow, to get going and get bicycling so that I arrive on time, but I'm still not entirely sure how I do that. It usually involves skipping breakfast though.

Anyway, on more recent news (well, in a sense) Mark has dismantled our shower, hoping to put up a new shower head thing. Unfortunately, it will require the drilling of new holes, so until we have a drill, we have no shower. It may get a tad stinky in this apartment now.

Also, we finally went out yesterday, and saw Casanova. It was enjoyable, and perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Downside? We had to get up really early for our Sunday (9 something!) because the power went out for a little bit and it somehow set off the alarm for a house down the street. I have no love for the people who own that house. None, whatsoever. I like my Sunday's starting late, around noon or 1 people, not at 9 in the frikkin' morning. On the other hand, it did mean we ate breakfast on Sunday and caught a matinee instead of seeing something late in the evening.

On rat news, the ratjes apparently think it's ultra cool to piddle on Mark. Poor Mark keeps getting rat pee on his hands from them. It's not very nice of them, but they also groom him, so.. I guess it's sort of sweet, in a rattie sense. (The rats, by the way, have gone back to sleep. I highly agree with this decision, as I know they will sleep until I come home this evening. Smart animals, rats.)

Alright, I think I can handle food now.

Got up with Mark this morning at 7:45am. Not too bad, considering we usually get up at around 8:10 or so and both end up running late. I have class at 10:40, though I really wish I didn't have to. I considered taking the bus over the bike, but I didn't want to leave the warmth of the apartment that early, so I'll be biking in about 10 minutes or so.
It snowed this morning (well, it snowed yesterday too, but I didn't have to bike yesterday) and I'm going to have fun trying not to fall. Or freeze, as it's about 0 C outside. Loads of fun.

I want it to be spring and summer already. I want to pull on my jean jacket, or just my windbreaker.. or no jacket at all. I hate having to wear so many clothes because of the cold. Dammit.

I'm gonna be so cold when I'm biking.

So, things have been going reasonably well. It's currently herfstvakantie (autumn break) here, and I'm already enjoying every minute of it. Well, except for the minutes I put into doing the homework that Anne assigned.

That woman frustrates me so much. She clearly does not care enough to want to actually teach, because she assigned homework that must have annoyed and frustrated the rest of the class far more than it did me. I'm very not pleased with her, but I will not let that ruin my herfstvakantie!

Last Wednesday I had to call in sick. I got sick to my stomach not too long after the call and I crawled back in to bed and slept for the majority of the day. I felt much better by the evening and by Thursday I was fine, so it was some weird 24 hour bug or something.

Wednesday is Tanja's birthday, so we have to go out tomorrow and get her present, as well as rat supplies. Woo.

Finally went out today and got necessary (and some unnecessary) rat stuff, posted the stuff for my permit renewal and got me slippers! I have been needing new slippers for a while, since a tragic washer accident with my old ones.

School has been going well, have invited Grace, Dayna and Juliana over for dinner next Wednesday. Now I only have to pick out a recipe and we need to get the apartment cleaned.
I'm zooming ahead in classes (I think I'm on chapter 6 or 7 in the program, everyone else seems to be on chapter 2 except for Dayna). Another day of classes tomorrow, sigh.

And now!

Tired

Well, today was the first day with our other teacher, Anne. She was nice, but we had to go through and introduce ourselves again, say where we were from and how long we had been in the Netherlands. I forgot my name card (geez, soon I'll be replacing too many words with dutch. I was going to put naam kaartje, heh.) so I had to make up another one so that she could see who I am.
Again, the NieuweBuren program didn't work in room 71, so we did another (very boring) program instead.

Met up with the girls in the morning and we biked most of the way to school together. Much nicer than biking alone, and it was also nice and cool. Much better than Friday.

After class, at 2:30 pm, Mark and I went to the dentist. It was Mark's first time in about 5 years, and for me.. maybe 2 or 3? Anyway, Mark unfortunately had two very small cavities, while I was all clean (well, except for the both of us have plaque). Then we came home and we ended up napping for a few hours (early mornings are tough on us). We had nummy veal sausages for dinner, with broccoli and fried potatoes.
On that note, I hope to invite a few people from my class over for dinner, eventually. Heh, it will be odd, because I haven't had guests over to our apartment, they've all been Mark's relatives. Well, there was the one time that Mark had a colleague over, and that was slightly nerve inducing. :P I was cooking a very nice and slightly complicated meal that night.

Hm, tomorrow is the longest day of class we have (it goes until 2:30, all the other classes get out around 12:20) so I have to remember to pack a lunch of some sort.

Also, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] renatus
http://www.faceanalyzer.com/member.aspx?id=55867

This is odd, because there is no Middle Eastern blood in my family that I'm aware of. I'm a mutt, yes, being mostly Irish and German with a further mix of English, Dutch, Scottish, and French (at least, so far as my grandfather has traced, there might be more)..
Anyway, as you can see from that list, I'm quite a Western European mutt.. so where they get Middle Eastern, I'm not sure. Though I really wish I was earning what they say my income should be. Heh.

Mark is at work for the day, and I've done some of my chores. I'm taking a break for lunch, mm, pb&j.

Anyway, I still have to head over to the Etos and the Blokker to get some things, but.. I'm feeling really not wanting to go out, so I think I'll just do an extra good job of cleaning the apartment and try and go tomorrow instead. The things I need can wait another day to be picked up.
Phew, I hope everything is going well with Mark. I hope he remembers to call me before he heads home, so I can start dinner (we'll be having this recipe).

Getting nervous about classes starting. Soon, only September 7th!

Anyways, lunch time is over, off I go to chore.

Mmm, after a nice shower and some relaxing (I'm going to be making Turkish apple tea soon) my head feels a bit better. Less poundy. Yay!

And I love this song, it always makes me want to dance..

Ugh, head hurty.
For some bizarre, unknown reason, my head is pounding pretty painfully. A dull ache behind very tired eyes. Urf.

Anyways, have been doing quite a bit of art lately (you can check my Art Journal to see some of it. I know there are some people on this friends list who aren't watching my journal.. I'm looking at you [livejournal.com profile] ashdarksbane).
I made up a web page with pictures from [livejournal.com profile] beowulff and myself, as well as a link with the collected picture from [livejournal.com profile] jokergirl and [livejournal.com profile] mirar's visit and their pictures (hoping they won't mind. If you two do, I'll happily take down the pictures you took or whatever :)). Anyway, I also e-mailed it to relatives at the same time that I posted it in LJ, which was a mistake, clearly, because I ran out of bandwidth. Whoops. heh.

Uhm, Mark had an interview yesterday, and he thinks it went very well. Apparently, a lot of people import girlfriends around here, as there are several people in the company he interviewed at who were going through similar things we were. He's at work now (more people want to know how to use his code) but he should be sending a few more applications to other jobs in Philips (he was rejected for the other one, unfortunately.)

Y'know, it's weird. Mark has a journal, yet I'm always updating what's going on in his (and our) lives. Lazy bum!

Back in June we sent a box to my parents that contained Mother's/Father's Day gifts, my Mom's birthday gift and gifts for Douglas (my nephew). It finally arrived last week. Took it's sweet time, didn't it? Mark and I still aren't sure why it took so long, but I'm just glad it's actually arrived and not vanished into limbo. I'm hoping to get an e-mail from my sister about the gifts we sent, because I hope they can use them and that they'll enjoy them. My parents said they enjoyed their gifts, which is good.

Oh, yes, I have so many people to write to. But I don't want to right now! Head too hurty! I want to relax in a bath but we don't have one, so I guess the closest I can get is a good shower. Which I think I'll do right after I finish breakfast..
