Menus got shifted around, as is usual, it seems. But that's alright. Overall this week was lacking something. I don't know which would be the biggest star, but the best dishes this week were the stew and the curry. Everything else was either kind of bland or down right unwanted.

The Round-up )

I'm not done filling stuff in, so I welcome suggestions. I'd prefer not to have to buy too much meat. I have beef sausages, ground beef and 2 bags of kippenbouten/chicken leg quarters (one of which is in use with my plan for Tuesday). Vegetarian is also, of course, entirely welcome. I'm not a fan of mushrooms, though.

I'll edit this when I figure stuff out.

due to silly planning on my part, the menu plan was switched around so that ingredients could be used before they went bad.

(8/12) Tuesday: French Bread Pizza:
This was easy and tasty. It doesn't really taste like pizza, but it's a good thing for a quick weeknight meal. Definitely nice because, of course, you can add whatever toppings you want.

(9/12) Wednesday: burritos.
Yeah, not much to say about this. Plans had to change, so burritos were moved up, as some of the ingredients needed to be used by that day.

(12/12) Saturday: Fettucine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce:
Continues to be a tasty favorite. I actually bought fresh Fettucine this time, no big change to the taste, but it was nice. I love how this dish always gives you a nice surprise kick from the cayenne pepper.

(13/12) Sunday: Chicken Tikka Masala:
It was a bit too much for me. For whatever reason recently, I haven't been handling spicy all that well. Mark thought it was tasty, but indeed too spicy. So, should I try this again, I will halve the spices. It is much easier to add more spices than to remove them.

(14/12) Monday: lasagna:
I can already tell you that this will be like lasagna normally is. It will be filling and tasty, and doesn't need much of a report.

Okay, that was my menu plan up to this point. Don't expect one for this week, what with the surgery and all.

First, let's go over the last planned meals.

Last week

Parmesan Chicken Breasts with Crispy Posh Ham: This was quite tasty. I didn't get the chicken thin enough, and the gouda cheese didn't have quite enough flavour, but otherwise, it was delicious. It got a thumbs up from Mark, and is worthy of a repeat. This isn't all that hard and is really tasty!

Meatballs and Pasta: This one also got a thumbs up from Mark. I also see this coming back again on our menu. Very tasty.

Tandoori Chicken with rice and salad: I had forgotten this, though we ate it last night. Mark liked it, and I think it was good, but it needs a sauce. Just don't know what kind yet. Should also reappear on our weekly menu plan at some point.

Next week
Monday: Pork Tenderloin with Rosemary, mash and broccoli.

Tuesday: Basil & Prosciutto Chicken Cordon Bleu, potatoes and Easy Fried Spinach.

Wednesday: Beef Sausages & Balsamic Tomatoes, with Turkish flat bread.

Thursday: Eating out.

Friday: Eating out.

Saturday: Don't know if I'll be home or not for dinner. If yes, plain old burritos, as they are fast and I'll probably be late.

Sunday: lasagna

Monday: salsa chicken (recipe below), rice, green beans

So, I'm going to try to plan our meals once again. We don't eat together on Thursdays, so that cuts out one evening. Monday we had burritos (chicken and delicious as usual), Tuesday was a box meal.. and that is my problem.

We have been getting those box mixes (see Knorr for an image of one of these box mixes) a lot. First of all, it's a pretty limited selection, secondly, I know I can do better myself. I just haven't had a chance to sit down and plan for meals so I can buy the stuff.

So tonight and Friday, we are trying things from Jamie Oliver. We're going to have Parmesan Chicken Breasts with Crispy Posh Ham (with some alterations.. like, no parmesan! woo! but Gouda instead!), and on Friday, Meatballs and Pasta (which will also be altered just a little bit.)

Don't yet have any ideas for Saturday or Sunday, or any further than Friday in general. So.. will have to settle down and figure out stuff for meals. I find I lose interest in planning every meal after a bit, but I know that when I do, we eat healthier. We have more vegetarian meals, less repetition and more vegetables in general, and it is just tastier.

So, here's hoping I can keep it up a bit better!

No  pictures yet, because I have no proper light here, but I'll try to get some pictures, eventually. Anyway, translated recipe below, including those silly imperial measurements. ;)

So it's been a little bit since I've done a menu plan, but I'm pretty sure I can get back into the swing of it. Or.. maybe just get into the swing of it. Whatever. Anyway, the idea is to get one or two things that will be reused in other recipes, or that can be made from our freezer. You know, the usual, trying to cut costs a little bit without causing us to eat unhealthily. I would like if we ate a little better than we do, though we don't eat horribly. A little more variation would be nice, I think.

So, this week we're most likely going to be eating the following:
Garlic Chicken with Orzo
Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin, stir fried green beans and paprika, and potatoes (from Betty Crocker's Cooking Basics)
Slavink, fast & easy spinach with shallots (though I'll probably end up using just an onion or maybe bosuien, we'll see), and potatoes
Aardappelkoek met ham en kaas (from éénpans eetplezier)

we'll also have our usual burritos, probably one meal from a box (tandoori, maybe?) and quite possibly frozen pizzas for a lazy night. We'll see.
