So, things have been progressing with Zoë. She's not the most sociable rat, but she's certainly loads better than she was! (She'll actually come out of the cage, all on her own!) And next week we pick up our two new girls. We have already met them, and they are incredibly social, human-oriented rats. I'll include pictures of them below, though I didn't take them, they were taken by the people who run Rattery Havyn. I only wish my pictures were so nice... *sigh*

If you want to know more about the nest (and can read Dutch), go to this link. Even if you can't read Dutch, there are some cute pictures on the whole website. These people breed incredibly human friendly, and healthy rats. We visited them, played with the available girls of the nest, as well as the mother. Katara, mama, is a sweetheart, and her nest seems to be taking after her very strongly.

And I'm doing this sort of as a year in review for our photos. We don't have that many, and some may be repeats that I've already posted before. Too bad!

Kaylee on bowl
Kaylee likes to sit on food bowls, which makes it hard to put the food in. I think she's hoping for the day when she can just crawl in to the food bag.

She is generally seen looking down, hopefully, to the treat cupboard below. A lover of treats, Kaylee is.

Kaylee in hammock
She looks adorably grumpy and just awake in this one. However, she's not really a grumpy rat, even when just awake.
Now that it's winter and much colder, she doesn't sleep as often in the hammock, now she cuddles up in either the Sputnik or the house.

This is from back when we first got Zoë. She was very shy about noises.

These shots were all taken by me being very very quiet at my computer, turning very quietly and snapping these with my phone.

From the other side, the couch side. Zooming in.

Some idea of how it was set up. The hemp bag is leaning against the bottom of the main cage.

Integrating Zoë in to the main cage with Kaylee. She started calming down a lot faster once she saw how lazy Kaylee was around us.

Now she's almost like a normal pet rat! I mean, she's still on the shy, but it's more in the normal range of shy. And she's less nippy now. Almost cuddly.

2 rats, one cage.

They really love that Sputnik. It's crazy.

And, yes, the normal sight for our photographs, rat butts. And blurriness.

It is always adorable when rats sleep together.

Recently out during a cage cleaning. They like to hover on this arm rest and pester us about attention, treats, and how soon can they go back to their cage!

In the cage, with another blurry Kaylee head. Honestly, you just can't win..

This is what I mean. Just by quality difference you can tell this isn't shot by us. But this is our little girl Ceridwen! She's a cinnamon colour, and absolutely adorable. She fell asleep in my sweater when we went to visit.

Gah, I can hardly wait!

This little girl climbed up Mark's head into his hair.

Don't be fooled by the innocent faces.. these two are sure to be adorable trouble!

December 29th, and they will be ours!
